Puja bears a special feeling in our heart.We forget all our worries for the time being and vibe along in the festive spirit and essence. But Pandemic have affected the normalancy of the festival.We can no longer roam outside enjoying the street foods,the pandal hopping.Even anjali and bijoya too are becoming tough due to covid rules and to avoid mass gathering.Virtual anjali and gifting have become the new trend.Thanks to animation and Vfx atleast the feel of puja is not completely lost.Specifically children who can no longer visit their grandparents and listen to the stories of incarnation of goddess,their only resource is the mahalaya program produced specifically for children by various channels in animated format.Channels like Zee Bangla,aakash deserve special mention for thinking about this concept for children.Credit also goes to leading production houses like Hi-Tech Animation.The relentless effort of so many animators,roto artists,motion graphics designers combined makes a beautiful show for all ages. Even NRI’s can also offer their prayers through various online portals.Most of us don’t realise but to make virtual puja a reality many animators,graphics artists and vfx artists are putting on their best effort year after year.We generally appreciate a good pandal or a great idol but often forget to mention or appreciate those teenagers(mostly)who don’t let even the elderly feel alone or leftout.All one need is a laptop or phone and you are connected to the whole crowd offering their prayers and seeking blessings.
Nowadays the procession of bisarjon is shown live on tv but many don’t realise that it too needs editing and animations are used there also to make it look more colourful and vibrant.So on a whole we can conclude that though pandemic has taken away much of the lusture of Bengali’s beloved festival the virtual world with all its graphics and animations is trying to keep no stone unturned to make it more fun and joyful.
